steve's legacy
& the colorado 14er project
Steve "STEVo" Meyer was an adventurer. He ran, swam, kayaked, biked, hiked, dove and skied (water and snow). He was a Powder Pig, Powdercat, POW-worshipper. He loved the world of outdoor recreation and all it had to offer, but he loved peak bagging the most. Colorado is known for the Rocky Mountains, but it's also known for its fourteeners - the highest mountains in the Southern Rockies, all above 14,000 feet. Colorado has 58 14ers in total. Steve climbed 25 of them.
When I moved to Colorado in 2016, I asked him for his list. My original plan was to summit all the same peaks (maybe even one extra), but after climbing Grays, I decided that peak bagging wasn't necessarily my speed.
Steve passed away in 2019. Much later, in a way to feel connected to him, I started to draw the mountains on his list instead. What started as a project to help process my grief, turned into a way to honor his legacy.
Welcome to the Colorado 14er Project.
